Prior to the assault, they said the suspect had twice approached the victim and threatened him before briefly returning home.

Another CCTV clip showed the suspect emerging from his house with the bolo in hand. He then charged straight toward the victim.

According to Kagawad Francis Dela Peña, “Nagkataon lang po na baligtad ang tanim, kaya tumama lang sa may gilid ng kaliwang mata niya.

Tapos after nu’n, kinuha ng biktima ‘yung bangko, ‘yun ang ginawa niyang panalag.”

He added that the victim later grabbed a bottle, broke it, and used it to keep the suspect at bay.

Despite defending himself, the victim was struck four times on the left arm.

He was rushed to the hospital but was discharged shortly after receiving treatment.

The suspect reportedly went home after the attack, but when police arrived, the house was locked and he refused to respond.

Kagawad Fredcel De Dios from the suspect’s barangay shared that the suspect’s wife had complained earlier that evening that he had beaten her while drunk.
