A 27-year-old woman died while her live-in partner sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were riding slipped and was run over by a pickup truck early morning on Tuesday, June 9, along Araneta Street near the Flyover in Barangay Singcang, Bacolod City.

The fatality was identified as Tricia Ann Ovas. Her partner, 28-year-old Mckevin Absen from Barangay Pahanocoy, was the motorcycle’s driver and survived with injuries, Bacolod K5 Station reported.
According to police investigation, the couple was riding their Aerox motorcycle during heavy rain when the vehicle suddenly skidded.
The slippery road caused them to lose control, and Ovas, who was riding at the back, was thrown approximately 55 feet across the road.

Tragically, an approaching black pickup truck passed by and accidentally ran over Ovas. She died on the spot due to the severe injuries she sustained.
The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene. Authorities are now urging the individual to come forward.
“The family of the victim is appealing to the driver of the pickup truck to surrender and cooperate with the police,” investigators said.
The accident has raised concerns over road safety during harsh weather conditions and the need for responsible driving.
Police are continuing their investigation and are calling for any witnesses to help identify the pickup truck involved.
