According to authorities, the victim's family and the suspect have already settled.
The SUV driver promised to take care of all the expenses for the memorial and burial of the child victim.
In the Philippines, settlement is possible even in cases where someone is killed after being hit by a car, but it depends on the situation.
If the incident was not intentional and is considered reckless imprudence resulting in homicid3, the victim’s family and the driver may agree to a settlement.
This usually involves the driver offering financial assistance or compensation to the family. If both parties agree, the family may choose not to pursue the case in court or may agree to drop the charges.
However, it’s important to note that even if a settlement is reached, the authorities can still file a criminal case, especially if the act was serious or there was clear negligence.
The court also has the final say in approving any settlement, especially in cases involving death.

Caught by CCTV, three men entered their store, closed the roll up door, and shot the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspect even grabbed a bag and mobile phone from the suspects. In a report by Gary De Leon of TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the family started getting threats after lending P1-M to one of the residents of their barangay; allegedly using the money for business.
In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
