Two-time Olympic champion Carlos Yulo took to social media to reflect on a major milestone in his gymnastics career after capturing his first Asian Games gold medal in Japan.

Yulo dedicated his breakthrough victory to God and expressed gratitude for the blessings and challenges he encountered on the road to the 2026 Asian Games.
“Thank you Lord sa lahat ng biyaya at mga pag-subok na binibigay mo po 🙏🏻,” Yulo began in his message.
The gymnast acknowledged that reaching the podium was not an easy journey, particularly because of the experiences he went through before arriving in Japan and throughout the Asian Games.

“Hindi magiging posible lahat ng ’to kung hindi dahil po sainyo Lord God☝🏻🥹!” he wrote.
Yulo added that his experiences before and during the competition made the gold medal particularly meaningful to him.
“Hindi naging madali ang mga na experience ko bago makarating dito sa Japan at habang nandidito sa Asian Games, kaya sobrang natutuwa po ako na nasungkit natin ang gintong medalya,” he said.
The victory came on Yulo’s specialty apparatus, the men’s floor exercise, where he delivered a winning performance worth 14.666 points.
His score was enough to give him the gold medal and make history for the Philippine delegation. The triumph became the Philippines’ first gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games, which are being held in Japan.
