After receiving the change, the man allegedly hid a P500 bill and, when confronted, claimed he only intended to buy a load card, which the shop was not selling.
He then asked for his P1,000 back, returning the change but keeping P500. The shopkeeper, without counting, handed him another P1,000, unknowingly falling victim to the scam.
Later, the man returned to the shop, attempting the same trick while buying siomai for P95.
He handed over a P1,000 bill, received change, then folded some money and pulled out a P100 bill, making it seem like he had only paid P100.
However, this time, the vendor carefully counted the money and noticed P500 was missing.
