VP Sara Duterte might be facing an impeachment process if the impeachment complaint filed against her prospers and is taken up by the House of Representatives.
Very recently, a coalition of different organizations composed of Akbayan, Mamamayang Liberal, Magdalo, along with some members of the Catholic Church and student leaders filed the said complaint at the House of Representatives.
If ever the complaint is taken up in the House agenda, found valid in both substance and form, is approved by the plenary by a one-third vote, forwarded to the Senate, tried and ruled upon favorably by two-thirds of the Senators, then VP Sara could face removal from office.
According to the group that filed the impeachment complaint, they wanted VP Sara removed from office for culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes.

“Vice President Duterte deserves to be impeached for her abuse of power and plunder of the nation’s coffers. The Filipino people deserve a vice president who is ethical, accountable, and committed to public service — not one who weaponises authority for personal gain,” says Perci Cendaña, Akbayan Representative, in a statement.
"The majority of the grounds are here," says former Senator Leila De Lima, who accompanied the group filing the impeachment charge, though wasn't a party to the complaint itself.
Earlier, President Bongbong Marcos admitted that he texted some members of the House of Representatves not to file impeachment coplaints against VP Sara.
“In the larger scheme of things, Sara is unimportant. So please do not file impeachment complaints,” a leaked text message of the President reads.
Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine Roman, who said that she has received said text message, agreed with the President.
“There are some representatives who want to continue with an impeachment move, but it’s a game of numbers here in the House. Personally, most probably, I won’t support that because I agree with the President that we should focus on more important things,” Cong. Roman said in a statement.

In other news, actress Neri Miranda, according to the Southern Police District, allegedly failed to show herself in court, which might be why she was ordered arrested. This was the claim of Police Major Hazel Asilo, the Public Information Officer of the Southern Police District in an interview with “Teleradyo Serbisyo.” During the interview PMaj Asilo said that based on her knowledge, a warrant of arrest can only be issued after a person undergoes a series of preliminary investigations. She also said that based on the information they have on hand, “twice po sila nag-fail na mag-appear sa court kaya nga po lumabas itong warrant nila.”
