A 16-year-old student reportedly shot a 19-year-old schoolmate on school grounds in Numancia, Aklan on Tuesday, October 1.

In a GMA Regional TV report, the suspect shot the victim in the abdomen with a sumpak or improvised 12-gauge shotgun.

As per investigation, the groups of the victim and the suspect got into a heated argument that led to the shooting incident.

Numancia Municipal Police Station deputy chief Police Lieutenant Rizal Padilla said that according to a witness, the suspect got something from his sling bag, which he used to shoot the victim.

However, the suspect said that he just grabbed the sumpak from someone from the other group.

The suspect has been taken into custody. Meanwhile, the victim is recovering in the hospital. Furthermore, all the students involved will undergo counseling.
