Sen. Risa Hontiveros sa pag-aresto kay Mayor Guo: “Wala po siya ‘K’ mag-impose ng mga kundisyon”

Senator Risa Hontiveros, in a press conference regarding the arrest of former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, said that the dismissed official has no right to impose any condition at this time.

“Wala po siyang 'K' na mag-impose ng mga kundisyon,” Sen. Risa said during the press conference.

Earlier today, breaking news about the arrest in Indonesia of the embattled Mayor spread like wildfire in the Internet.

Other than she was arrested in a hotel in Indonesia, no other details were given as of now.

In her press conference, Sen. Risa pointed out that Mayor Guo has an obligation to the government and the Filipino people to submit to her warrants of arrest, adding that the dismissed official has three outstanding warrants.

“Siya po ang may obligasyon, hindi lang sa gobyerno, pero sa taumbayan. Katulad ng sinumang mamamayan na covered ng di lang isa, hindi lang dalawa, kundi tatlo na warrant of arrest, humarap na po siya,” Sen. Risa said.

It can be recalled that Mayor Alice allegedly left the country last July 17 after refusing to attend Senate hearings on POGO and related issues being tackled by different senate committees.

Ana Theresia "Risa" Navarro Hontiveros-Baraquel is a Filipino politician, journalist, and community leader. She was born on February 24, 1966. She won a seat in the Philippine Senate, placing 9th, during the 2016 general elections. Previously, she served as Akbayan sectoral representative in the Philippine House of Representatives from 2004 to 2010.

In a previous statement, Sen. Risa said that suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo and Guo Hua Ping have the same fingerprints. The legislator said that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has confirmed that Guo’s fingerprints have matched with the said Chinese passport holder. As per Hontiveros, the findings confirm that Alice Guo is a “Pekeng Pilipino” like what she had suspected all along. The senator likewise described Guo as a “Chinese national masquerading as Filipino citizen to facilitate crimes being committed by POGO.”

In another news, Senator Risa was seen holding a copy of Vice President Sara Duterte’s book. The Office of the Vice President sent the book to the senator titled “Isang Kaibigan.” ABS-CBN News shared photos of the book, one of which shows Hontiveros browsing through the book. It can be recalled that during the Senate hearing for the OVP budget, Hontiveros asked Duterte about the content of the book that’s allotted P10 million in the budget.
