In a recent episode of the ABS-CBN program “It’s Showtime,” a contestant challenged Jhong Hilario to a TikTok dance showdown featuring the hit song “Gento” by SB19.
However, the management told the hosts that they supposedly could not play the song since SB19 is already demanding a royalty fee for their song.
“Bawal na daw. Naniningil na sila,” Vice Ganda said.
Anne Curtis then expressed her shock that SB19 is asking for payment since she believed that playing the song on the show could have been a good way to promote their song.

After that moment went viral, the topic “respect local artists” became a trending topic on Twitter. Some netizens defended SB19, saying that the music artists have the right to demand a royalty fee for their music.
Others defended the “It’s Showtime“ hosts, explaining that they have promoted SB19 from time to time and that their recent comments were harmless.
