Film director Antoinette Jadaone shared a fond memory of Marian Rivera, recalling how the actress remained generous and humble even after becoming one of the country’s biggest television stars.

Jadaone and fellow director JP Habac recently welcomed showbiz power couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera to their viral podcast, Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast. The couple appeared on the show to promote their much-awaited comeback movie, Remember, which is set to premiere on November 11.

During the conversation, Jadaone looked back on her experience working as a script continuity staff member on some of Dingdong and Marian’s earlier television projects, including MariMar and Dyesebel. She specifically remembered how Marian treated the people behind the scenes.

Jadaone admitted that the actress’ sudden rise in popularity initially made the staff wonder if fame would change her personality.

“Si Yan-Yan noon nag-aartista na siya. Pero grabe 'yung pag-angat nung Marian Rivera, akala namin ano na snobbish na siya after,” she recalled.

Instead, Jadaone said Marian became known for her generosity toward the production team.

“Isa siya sa pinaka generous na mga artista.”

She then remembered an instance when Marian bought planners for the staff. Jadaone jokingly suggested that the actress could have bought even more.

“Naalala ko meron kaming ginagawang planner, may planner kami si Yan-Yan (Marian Rivera) bumili siya.”

“Nakulangan pa nga ako parang one dozen lang yata, two dozens lang . Bakit hindi 30?”

Jadaone also emphasized that Marian did not appear to let her newfound fame affect her behavior.

“Pinuntahan ko pa sa bahay parang ganun… Ano talaga hindi napunta sa ulo niya 'yung pagiging MariMar niya, minsan nga nakakalimutan niya na si Marian siya, parang biglang bibili sa gilid. Ay, 'te, si MariMar ka ha.”

For Jadaone, Marian’s generosity was not limited to occasional gifts. She said the actress was also prepared whenever a member of the production staff had a birthday.

“Yung likod ng kotse ni Yan-Yan maraming naka-bangko na regalo kapag meron staff na may birthday, meron kang ibibigay. Tapos, lalagay mo ang happy birthday…Pinapili niya ako ng perfume!”

Jadaone then humorously recalled her own experience of choosing a fragrance from Marian’s collection.

“Doon ako nakaranas ng pabango na ang daming nangyayari.”

Her stories offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Marian’s personality during the period when MariMar and Dyesebel helped cement her status as one of Philippine television’s most recognizable stars. For Jadaone, however, Marian’s fame did not erase the thoughtful gestures she extended to the people working with her.

Marian Rivera is a Filipino-Spanish actress, the only child of Spanish father Francisco Javier Gràcia Alonso and Filipina mother Amalia Rivera, who separated when she was three and left her to be raised largely by her maternal grandmother in Cavite. She became one of Philippine showbiz’s biggest stars through Marimar, Dyesebel, and Darna, forming a hugely popular love team with Dingdong Dantes that eventually became a real-life romance; they married in 2014 and now have two children, Zia and Sixto.

Recently, Marian Rivera opened up about how she and Dingdong Dantes approach decisions involving her movie offers, particularly those that require her to be away from their children. She shared that Dingdong considers her feelings and makes sure she is comfortable before she commits to a project. Marian also said her husband never pressures her to accept work when she feels she cannot take it on. To help their children adjust, she begins preparing them months before filming starts and explains that she will be away.

Previously, Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes made a guest appearance inside the “Pinoy Big Brother Collab 3.0” house, where Marian took notice of the male housemates’ well-kept bedroom. She was impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the space and decided to ask Big Brother to give the group a special reward. Jeo Ong welcomed the surprise and said their effort in keeping the room tidy had ultimately paid off.
