Her recollection came as the conversation turned to a memorable scene from the movie. Along with discussing her limited romantic experience then, she explained that the scene involved two separate performances.
According to the actress, they first filmed it for the trailer. At that point, they were not yet halfway through making the movie.
“I remember we did it for the first time for the trailer first,” she shared.
That meant the version they initially performed was already being used to promote the film before they returned to shoot the scene for the movie itself.
Bea recalled hearing positive feedback about their first performance. During promotions, they also kept hearing the dialogue repeated.
“So we would always always hear those words and those lines over and over again,” she said.
By the time they had to perform the scene again, the experience felt different. The actress recalled that it no longer had the same emotional impact for her as the first attempt.
To explain, she compared it to telling friends about a difficult personal problem. Sharing it for the first time can feel different from recounting the same experience repeatedly.
Her account offered a look at the challenge of returning to an emotional scene after becoming so familiar with its words.
The interview also touched on another kind of repetition in acting: recording dialogue again after filming.
While discussing a scene from “A Second Chance,” Bea said that dubbing required them to recreate the emotion of the original performance while matching their onscreen delivery.
“Yeah, you have to do it all over again. Like you have to have the same emotion,” she explained.
She admitted that this was not her favorite part of the process. Even when an actor remembers the scene, the exact sound of an emotional performance can be difficult to reproduce.
“You can't redo the cracks in your voice,” she said.
These recollections showed how she remembers the work behind those scenes, from performing without firsthand breakup experience to trying to recapture an emotion for another take.
