In an exchange shared on her Instagram Stories, the actress answered a social media user who questioned her admiration for the rapper. Her story featured a screenshot of the question and her response.

“Pero genuine question po, ano po nagustuhan nyo kay Kanye?? Di po ba kayo na o-off sa mga pinag gagawa nya?” the commenter asked.

Maxene addressed the question by explaining how she views his work separately from his actions. She did not dismiss the concerns raised by the commenter or claim to support everything he does.

“I know how to separate the artist from the art. I don’t agree with a lot of the wild things that he did in his life but I do resonate with the message of his music which is to be authentic and don’t give in to fear,” she wrote.

For the actress, those messages help explain her continued appreciation of his music. Her response focused on what she personally takes from the songs, particularly the encouragement to stay authentic and resist fear.

At the same time, she acknowledged that supporting the rapper as a fan comes with mixed feelings. Admiring his creativity, in her explanation, can exist alongside disagreement with his behavior.

“It’s exhausting to be a Kanye West fan tbh but I still appreciate seeing a creative genius stand tall despite all the hate he’s been receiving,” she said.
