In a Facebook post, Edu raised concerns about the substantial amount allocated for the senator's capture, pointing out that he had not heard of a local arrest warrant issued by a Philippine court against Dela Rosa.

The actor emphasized that the public should be allowed to understand the basis for such a significant government expenditure, particularly given the distinction between an arrest warrant issued by an international tribunal and one issued by a Philippine court.

"Is it wrong to ask why the government is offering PhP 50 million for Bato's capture when no Philippine court has issued a local warrant for his arrest?" he wrote.

Edu further clarified that the International Criminal Court's (ICC) warrant should be treated as a separate legal matter from the government's reward announcement.

"The ICC (International Criminal Court) warrant is a separate matter. The public deserves a clear explanation of the legal basis for this bounty and the use of public funds," he added.

His latest remarks came after he previously shared his opinions on several government-related developments and public concerns through social media.

Meanwhile, Malacañang has maintained its position on the P50-million bounty, defending the government's offer anew on October 29. The Palace said Dela Rosa's options had become increasingly limited as authorities stepped up their efforts to locate and arrest him over crimes against humanity allegations before the ICC.

The senator's camp, however, has taken legal action to challenge the government's moves. It sought a temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Supreme Court to stop the implementation of the ICC arrest warrant and the P50-million reward offer.

In its argument, Dela Rosa's camp highlighted the Philippines' withdrawal from the Rome Statute, the treaty that established the ICC.

“The only document the government has is a warrant from the International Criminal Court. That is a foreign tribunal under a treaty the Philippines withdrew from effective March 17, 2019," said in a statement.

The developments have brought renewed attention to questions surrounding the government's authority to implement the reward and the legal implications of the ICC warrant following the country's withdrawal from the international court.

Edu's comments have also added to the public discussion, particularly concerning transparency, legal accountability, and the proper use of taxpayers' money.
