"Nakikipagbiruan ako 'pag English 'yung topic. Okay lang sa akin 'yan. Nakikipagbiruan ako, nakikipagtawanan ako. Pero kapag dumating sa punto na ang English ay pinag-iinsulto sa pagkatao ko, aba, ibang usapan na 'yan," she said.

She then revealed that English is also frequently spoken inside their home. Interestingly, her children have become part of her practice sessions, even encouraging her to improve her diction and try speaking with a British accent.

"Pina-practice ako ng mga anak ko," she shared.

Marian explained that Zia and Sixto do not criticize her whenever she makes an effort to speak English. For them, being able to understand one another matters more than speaking perfectly. However, she also makes sure that her children continue using their native language.

"Totoo! Kasi 'yung mga anak ko, 'di ako jinu-judge. Ang importante, nagkakaintindihan kami. Pero may twist, kailangan nagta-Tagalog din sila," she added.

The actress also brought up her husband, Dingdong Dantes, whom she described as someone who is comfortable speaking English. Their different approaches to communication even resulted in amusing situations when they were still getting to know each other.

Marian recalled that Dingdong would sometimes express his concerns or frustrations in English. Because she did not always understand everything he said, she would end up appearing unaffected by the situation.

"Kasi noong araw, noong mga kabataan, maraming may misunderstanding. English English siya. Hindi ako masyadong na-hurt, hindi ko masyadong naintindihan. So okay ako doon!" she joked.

Vice Ganda found the situation amusing and added his own interpretation of how their conversations might have gone.

"'Pag may problema siya sa 'yo, 'pag may mga reklamo siya, e, in English, hindi ka masyado nahu-hurt," Vice remarked.

Marian agreed with the observation and revealed what was actually happening in her mind during those moments.

"Okay lang ako. Akala niya, chill lang ako. Pero deep inside, 'Ano kaya ibig sabihin noon?'" she joked.

Marian and Dingdong tied the knot on December 30, 2014. A decade later, in 2024, they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary by renewing their marriage vows.

Despite their demanding careers in the entertainment industry, the couple continues to take an active role in raising their two children, Zia and Sixto.
