Maxene Magalona praised SB19’s rendition of her late father Francis M.’s “Mga Kababayan” after hearing it in the animated film Forgotten Island.

In an Instagram post about attending the film’s advance screening, the actress shared her excitement when the song came on.
“I was jumping in my seat when I heard your song in one of the best scenes in the movie,” she wrote, addressing her father.
Maxene said she was proud that one of Francis M.’s classic hits had become part of a global production. She added that she still could not believe it had happened.

“To Papa, if you ever get to read this I want you to know how incredibly proud I am of you!” she wrote.
She remembered him as an energetic and passionate artist who was also humble and down to earth.
“You really are Mr. Cool #neverforgotten,” she added.
Maxene also shared her thoughts about Forgotten Island, calling it “highly entertaining” and praising its animation as “phenomenal.” She said the story’s themes of remembering who people are, cherishing meaningful memories, and valuing love and connection resonated with her.
“After watching this film, I felt so seen as a Filipino,” she wrote.
She congratulated the movie’s cast, including Liza Soberano, H.E.R., Lea Salonga and Dolly de Leon, for being part of what she called a historic project.
Maxene also recognized BINI, who contributed the song “A Parallel World” to the original soundtrack. She said it was her first time meeting the group at the premiere and described its members as “so lovely and full of grace.”
The advance screening was held at SM Mall of Asia, where Maxene watched the movie in ScreenX, a format that extends visuals onto the auditorium’s side walls. She encouraged her followers to experience it themselves and thanked SM Cinema for having her.
