As part of Kutis By Kei's "Bare. Nothing to Hide" campaign, de Leon shared how he has learned to look beyond the industry's traditional expectations surrounding appearance. While clear skin, a toned body, and a polished image are often associated with success in showbiz, the actor said he has gradually developed a more personal perspective on self-care and confidence, ABS-CBN reported.
De Leon admitted that the pressure to meet certain standards has been present since he entered the industry. Although he came from a theater family and was already exposed to acting, he said working in showbiz brought different expectations.
“Until now, there’s still pressure, but I use that pressure as a learning experience so I can learn more from every project I do in the industry,” de Leon shared.

Becoming a father also gave him a deeper understanding of what confidence means. For the Kapamilya actor, taking care of one's physical and mental well-being is important, especially when other people depend on you.
“I think that’s the meaning of confidence for me, being able to take care of yourself so you can also properly take care of the people who are important to you,” he explained.
De Leon has likewise learned to accept the physical changes that come with getting older. He now sees skincare and gr*ooming as more than just part of maintaining his appearance for work.
“Taking care of my body and my skin is also a reflection of my mindset in life,” he emphasized.
“It’s no longer just about looking good for other people but also about feeling good and taking care of yourself.”
Despite the pressures of life in the public eye, de Leon said his family continues to remind him of what matters most.
“Everything has an end, and nothing is permanent in life,” he noted.
“That’s why I always look back at where I started, and that’s my family.”
The actor also addressed the insecurities that men may struggle to discuss openly. He believes many men remain quiet about such concerns because of the expectation that they should always appear strong.
“Men are usually more silent when it comes to their insecurities,” he went on.
“Because for men, it seems more expected that you always have to be tough and strong on the outside,” he added.
For de Leon, however, self-care should not be mistaken for weakness.
“Taking care of yourself is not a weakness. I think it actually helps you become more confident and comfortable with who you really are,” he shared.
