Julie Anne San Jose is mourning the passing of her former Sugarpop groupmate Vanessa Rangadhol, who died at the age of 30 on August 19, 2026.

According to information shared by Vanessa's family, the former child singer died following an accident at the condominium where she was staying in Manila. Details of her wake and funeral arrangements were still being finalized as of August 20.

Julie Anne paid tribute to Vanessa through her Instagram Story. The singer posted a throwback photo of the two of them and shared how difficult it was to process the loss.

“Wani, still can't believe it... Plano pa naman natin mag-reunion. Sugarpop will never be the same without you. Rest in Heaven, Wani,” she wrote.

Her message also revealed that the former groupmates had been hoping to see each other again for a Sugarpop reunion.

Vanessa and Julie Anne were both part of QTV's singing competition Pop Star Kids in 2005. They later became members of Sugarpop together with Pocholo Bismonte, Renzo Almario, and Rita Daniela, who was then known as Rita Iringan.

Rita was declared the grand champion of Pop Star Kids, while the other members were among the show's finalists. Sugarpop later brought the young singers together as they continued performing after the competition.

The years they spent together became an important early chapter in their respective careers. Julie Anne's tribute also reflected how the bond between the former groupmates remained meaningful years after they first performed together.

Pocholo also remembered Vanessa through an Instagram Story after news of her passing was shared.

“Mahal na mahal ka namin wani ang sakit sakit pa rin,” he wrote.

Rita and Renzo also reposted the announcement of Vanessa's passing on their respective social media accounts.

Vanessa's cousin, Ivy Ann Salaum Jubelag, announced the sad news on Facebook. She described Vanessa as someone she cherished and considered a little sister.

The family also asked friends, relatives, and supporters to give Vanessa's immediate family time and privacy while they grieve. Wake and funeral details had yet to be formally announced at the time of reporting.

For Julie Anne, the loss was made even more painful by the reunion that she and her former groupmates had hoped to have.
