Content creator and podcast host Baus Rufo found himself at the center of another hilarious on-air moment after an unexpected cockroach encounter interrupted a live report on GMA’s morning program Unang Hirit.

Baus recently shared the story behind the incident through a TikTok storytime video, recounting what happened while he was reporting alongside Miss Philippines Earth 2025 and fellow Unang Hirit co-host Joy Barcoma.
He opened the video by jokingly referring to the incident as an episode of “Unang Ipis,” immediately setting a lighthearted tone for his retelling.
"Okay, storytime tayo sa nangyari kanina sa Unang Ipis," he began.

According to Baus, he initially misunderstood the gestures of a production staff member who appeared to be signaling toward him while he was delivering the report. Thinking the staff member might be asking him to perform some choreography, he became curious about what was happening around him.
"Sabi ko, "Ha? May kailangan ba gawing choreography today? So, of course, medyo nakiliti ako, sabi ko ano 'yun? ano 'yun? Napaisip ako, ano 'to, gagamba? sawa? ipis? So, paghampas ko, biglang bugsh," he recalled.
Baus and Joy eventually realized that the unexpected visitor was indeed a cockroach.
"So, habang nalalagutan ng hininga 'yung ipis. May sinasabi siya, e, Unang Hirit," he joked.
The incident later became even more amusing when Baus showed viewers a screenshot of a comment posted by the official Unang Hirit account on his storytime video.
“Binayaran namin 'yung ipis, btw.”
Baus responded to the comment with another joke, pretending that the show's admission could become evidence in a legal case.
"Na-screenshot ko na 'to. Pls expect a call from my lawyer."
He then playfully built on the joke by claiming that the comment was proof that the program had something to do with the cockroach’s appearance.
"Basically, umamin siya sa kasalanan niya na Unang Hirit ang nagpadala sa kanya. Ito ang pruweba," he said in the video.
Joy also became part of the memorable moment, with Baus recalling how she reacted while the unexpected incident was unfolding. He jokingly described her reaction as her own “farewell walk” moment.
Despite the disruption, Joy remained committed to finishing the report. Baus said she told him that she would continue with their live segment even after the unusual encounter.
The incident added another humorous chapter to Baus’ growing collection of memorable moments on Unang Hirit. He has been a regular guest host on the morning program since June and has also appeared alongside Joy in other hosting duties.
Baus is likewise one of the hosts of the podcast Dogshow Divas, where he works with fellow content creator Macoy Dubs.
He ended his storytime by turning the bizarre experience into a humorous reminder for viewers.
"So, anong lesson dito? Huwag na huwag niyo babanggain ang mga HR," he concluded.
