According to Eric, his partner constantly makes him feel valued.

“She treats me like a king. So she lives like a queen. Kasi alam mo 'yung tradition, lalo na dito sa atin na ina-under 'yung lalaki? Hindi pwede 'yung ganu'n, e. Kailangan 'yung lalaki, sabi nga, you have to submit to your guy, 'di ba?”

He immediately clarified that he does not expect his partner to submit to him. Instead, he explained that he was referring to what he had read in a book and emphasized that their relationship works because they share the same spiritual foundation.

“The good thing about my partner now is iisa lang 'yung puso namin when it comes to the big boss up there. So nagkakasundo kami and our relationship, maganda because inuuna namin lagi si Big Boss,” he said.

Eric was previously married to his non-showbiz wife, Gian, for 16 years before they separated in 2021. Aside from his marriage, he also experienced several high-profile relationships in the past, all of which contributed to the lessons he carries today.

When asked what advice he would give based on his experiences, Eric admitted that one realization has stayed with him.

“Probably do not give too much.”

He explained that while he remains a generous partner, he has also learned the value of maintaining individuality inside a relationship. Instead of making a relationship the center of everything, he now believes both partners should continue pursuing their own interests and personal growth.

“Kasi ako, I still do, pero mahirap kasi. I keep myself busy. Hindi pwedeng dito na lang lagi, Like 'yun, I run, I go to the gym. Ginagawa ko lahat 'yun para may sarili akong time sa sarili, may sarili siyang time sa sarili. It's more on giving each other the right space,” he shared.

Eric also admitted that one of the biggest mistakes he made in the past was insisting that he was always right. Looking back, he now sees humility as one of the most important ingredients in a lasting relationship.

“Ang pinakamalaking pagkakamali ay kapag pinipilit mong ikaw ang laging tama. Kahit ano'ng mangyari, si misis ang laging tama. Dapat 'yun lang.”
