Kapamilya actress Carmina Villarroel has revealed that, if given the opportunity, she would like to sit down and interview one of her bashers—not to argue, but to better understand what drives people to spread hate online.

During an interview with veteran broadcaster KC Constantino, the The Loyalty Game star opened up about her perspective on online criticism and how social media has changed the way celebrities experience public judgment.

Carmina admitted that one thing she has always been curious about is the mindset of people who leave hurtful comments on social media. Instead of responding with anger, she believes a conversation could help her understand where those emotions come from.

“Ang tatapang nila manlait kapag walang mukha,” she said.

The actress recalled that criticism toward celebrities existed long before social media became popular. However, she pointed out that in earlier years, the people who had influence over public opinion were mostly members of the media.

“Kasi dati, yung mga bashers namin yung mga reporters kasi sila yung may control sa magazines, newspapers, tabloids. Pero yung mga netizens, wala naman silang power na api-apihin kami or to criticize us. Kung hindi man, sa mga circles lang nila–– hindi namin nababasa,” she said.

She believes social media has significantly changed that dynamic by allowing anyone to publicly express opinions, whether constructive or hurtful.

“Parang feeling ko kasi nagkaroon sila ng platform para manlait. I don’t know,” she added.

Rather than reacting emotionally, Carmina said she sincerely wants to understand why some individuals find it easy to insult strangers online.

“Meron akong gustong interviewhin na basher because I want to understand them–– ano ba yung pakiramdam na may nalalait kayong tao. I’m being serious, I’m not being sarcastic,” she maintained.

She also admitted that she personally cannot imagine intentionally hurting someone through social media, especially knowing that countless people can read such comments.

“Yung sasabihin mo pa sa social media at mababasa pa ng maraming tao, how can you do that knowing na nakakasakit kayo ng tao kasi hindi ko kaya yun,” she asserted.

Carmina clarified that she does not blame the parents of those who engage in online bashing, believing that many of them may have raised their children well despite their behavior online.

“Ayokong sisihin ang mga magulang nila kasi may mga ganoong tao na ang babait naman ng magulang—saan ba nagkamali itong mga batang ito? That’s why I really want to understand them na saan kaya ito galing because I want to help them,” she ended.

Aside from speaking about online negativity, Carmina continues to appear in the ABS-CBN series The Loyalty Game, which is currently streaming exclusively on Prime.

The actress credited their strong relationship to faith, honest communication, and unwavering commitment. She also said that romance does not fade with time but instead grows into a deeper, more comforting kind of love.

Meanwhile, Zoren Legaspi paid tribute to Ruffa Gutierrez on her birthday through a heartfelt Instagram post while reflecting on how former couples can remain good friends. He shared a video from Ruffa's birthday celebration, where several well-known personalities were seen singing together.
