James Reid has opened up about what being truly rich means to him, revealing that his perspective on wealth goes far beyond financial success. During an interview with content creator Jomari Angeles, the actor-singer shared that he now believes a person's richness should be measured by generosity and meaningful relationships rather than by material possessions.

According to James, there is an important distinction between external success and personal fulfillment.
"There's material wealth, and there's inner wealth. And I think that being rich is just not about how much that you have, it's about how much you can give," he explained.
The actor also recalled a well-known Harvard study that tracked participants for more than eight decades. He said the findings changed the way many people think about happiness and a fulfilling life.

"There was a Harvard study over 80 years and following a group of people, and they were surprised that the number one factor for long life and happiness was good relationships. Having warm relationships in your life. So, having good relationships, I think, is probably the number one factor," he relayed.
James further shared that his personal realization happened while creating his song, "Richest Man Alive." He admitted that writing the track helped him recognize that he already possessed the kind of wealth that mattered most.
"It was just one of those things that I realized one day because I was writing this song, it's called 'Richest Man Alive,' and then I was just like, you know what, I am rich in life," he said.
He added that the song naturally reflected the emotions he was experiencing during that period of his life.
"I was just writing about the love that I felt. If you listen to the lyrics, there's just like a slow kind of me discovering that," he added.
Released on May 28 through Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, "Richest Man Alive" became another deeply personal project for the singer. At the time of its release, James also encouraged fans to dedicate the song to someone special.
"Wrote a lil' love song. Give it a listen and share it with your special person," he posted on Instagram.
Beyond music, James is preparing for the release of the ABS-CBN drama series Someone, Someday, where he stars alongside Kathryn Bernardo. Speaking about the project during an interview on The B Side, he described the series as a refreshing departure from his previous roles.
"It's a modern feel-good drama. I think that is how I would describe it. It's [lighter] compared to a lot of other shows out right now and I feel like the story here is very unique as far as the characters I played in the past. And I think their friendship is very inspiring and very unique. I haven't tried something like this before," he relayed.
James Reid is an Australian-Filipino singer, actor, and record producer who first gained widespread fame after winning Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash 2010 and starring in hit films like Diary ng Panget. He has since transitioned into music full-time, establishing himself as a prominent R&B and pop artist while co-founding the independent music label Careless Music.
In another report, James Reid shared that working with Kathryn Bernardo was an easy and enjoyable experience because of her warm, approachable, and collaborative personality on set. The actor revealed that they spent time getting to know their characters by discussing their traits, love languages, and overall relationship dynamics. The actor said the financial setback involved issues with a former business partner at Careless Music and represented nearly all the savings he had accumulated over more than a decade. James shared that his girlfriend, Issa Pressman, helped him recognize the situation and stood by him throughout the ordeal.
