James Reid has reflected on the overwhelming excitement surrounding his first on-screen partnership with Kathryn Bernardo, admitting that he never imagined the pairing would become a reality years ago.

Speaking during an interview on The B Side, James shared that building chemistry with Kathryn came naturally because of her welcoming personality despite being naturally reserved.

"Luckily for me it's very easy working with Kath. And I think as a person, yeah sure she's shy and introverted, but not as much as me. She's very friendly on the set, she's very open, so that's what it made easy for me."

The actor explained that their preparation for Someone, Someday went beyond rehearsing scenes. According to James, they spent time understanding every aspect of their characters to create a more believable relationship on screen.

"We really sat down, we talked about the characters, even to the point of like what's their love language, what are the things that they love and hate about each other. We went into a lot of details."

James also admitted that years ago, he never thought a project with Kathryn would happen because the entertainment landscape was very different at the time.

"Before no, I didn't think it was something that's possible. The way it was then with all the fans and everything, it was very kind of separate."

He added that the industry has since evolved, opening more opportunities for collaborations across different fan communities.

"But now I think there's a lot of opportunities to be able to collaborate with each other and have crossovers like this. I am very grateful that this is the first project that I have coming back."

The actor was also touched by the passionate response from supporters, revealing that a dedicated fan base had been waiting for their pairing for nearly a decade.

"Actually, there's been a fanbase that's been around for ten years. And they've been really pushing for a project like this to come so now that it is finally here, there's super active online. Maybe they really did see this coming."

As anticipation for Someone, Someday continues to grow, James teased viewers about what they can expect from the series, describing it as a refreshing departure from many dramas currently on television.

"It's a modern feel-good drama. I think that is how I would describe it. It's [lighter] compared to a lot of other shows out right now and I feel like the story here is very unique as far as the characters I played in the past. And I think their friendship is very inspiring and very unique. I haven't tried something like this before."

James Reid is an Australian-Filipino actor, singer-songwriter, and record producer who rose to prominence after winning Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash 2010. He established himself as a major star through hit movies like Diary ng Panget and television series such as On the Wings of Love, while also founding his own independent music label, Careless.
