Actor Romnick Sarmenta has once again made his political stand clear, saying he has no regrets about supporting Akbayan Party-list Rep. Chel Diokno during the 2025 midterm elections.

Known for speaking out on social and political issues, Sarmenta shared his thoughts in a post on X on Friday, July 24, where he expressed satisfaction with his choice at the polls.
"Walang nasayang sa pagboto kay senator Chel Diokno. Kasama yung sa akin doon. Wala akong binoto sa mga nag-iingay at nagmamagaling sa floor. Masaya ako para dun," Sarmenta wrote.
The veteran actor followed it with another message praising the lawmaker.

"Cheldren are proud of their senator," Sarmenta said.
He added, "And yes, I know he is still a congressman, but to me he is a fitting senator."
Sarmenta's post quickly drew attention online, reflecting his continued willingness to publicly support leaders he believes deserve public office.
Throughout the years, the actor has been among the entertainment personalities who have openly voiced their opinions on governance and national issues.
Diokno currently serves as the representative of the Akbayan Party-list in the House of Representatives.
Before winning a congressional seat, he sought a Senate position twice but fell short both times.
He first ran for senator in the 2019 elections under the opposition coalition Otso Diretso but failed to secure a place in the winning slate. In 2022, he launched another Senate bid as part of Team Robredo-Pangilinan, also known as Tropang Angat, but again did not make it into the Magic 12.
Chel Diokno is the son of former Senator and Justice Secretary Jose W. Diokno, who is widely recognized as the "Father of Human Rights" in the Philippines.
Despite his previous Senate defeats, Sarmenta's latest remarks show that the actor continues to believe Diokno possesses the qualities of a senator.
