Before becoming one of the country's fastest-rising P-Pop girl groups, Baby Dolls nearly saw their dream fall apart as several members questioned whether continuing together was still worth it.
In an interview with Luis Manzano, the seven-member group—Juby, Arianne, Chole, Ina, Johaira, Eriel, and Jelai—looked back on the years they spent waiting for their big break after being introduced on It's Showtime in 2023. Their official debut finally came with the release of their EP ZoomBaby Dolls in March 2026.

Juby revealed that the uncertainty of waiting without a clear direction led some members to consider leaving.
"As a grupo po, dumating po kami sa point na parang [iniisip namin] 'Saan tayo papunta? Ano 'yung direction namin?' May iba nagpa-plano nang mag-exit."

She admitted she was among those who nearly quit because adjusting from pageantry to the group's dance-oriented style was difficult.
"To be honest, ako po [nag-iisip nang umalis] kasi ang laki po ng binali ng katawan ko para mag-adjust sa genre nila eh. Nagpa-pageant kasi talaga ako tapos sila dancer sila, so parang ako, [naiisip] ko na baka hindi 'to para sa akin."
Juby eventually realized the group's potential and chose to stay.
"Pero lumipas po 'yung phase na 'yun. Nakita ko naman po 'yung importance ng grupo, 'yung value po ng grupo, tapos nakita ko po 'yung potensyal namin. Baka may right time pa po para sa amin, baka naghihintay lang 'yung management kung kailan kami puputok."
"Grateful po ako na nalabanan ko 'yung ganong fear at nandito [pa rin] ako."
Arianne also faced a difficult choice after starting a job in the BPO industry while Baby Dolls was still performing as resident dancers.
"Parang dumating 'yung song namin hanggang na-release siya. Hindi siya natutugma sa schedule ko and then parang pinapapili ako ni Lord kung ano bang mas matimbang sa [akin]. So sabi ko, feeling ko ito na 'yung time ko para mag-desisyon talaga. Pinili ko po 'yung grupo namin."
She said she left the job despite not knowing what the future would bring.
Johaira shared that finally receiving confirmation of their launch brought both excitement and pressure after nearly three years of waiting.
The group also admitted they initially questioned the decision to pursue novelty music instead of the powerful performances they had become known for on It's Showtime.
"Nung una, parang we were leaning towards sa powerful na type of genre. Tapos nung nalaman po namin na novelty, ako po honestly, [napatanong] po ako [ng] 'Totoo ba? Novelty?'"
Eriel said they eventually embraced the genre and the identity it gave them.
"To be honest po, sobrang kino-cope po namin siya ngayon. Gusto po naming maging maka-masa kami."
Juby also admitted she doubted whether their breakout hit "Oooh Lala Baby" would connect with audiences because of its softer style.
"Masyado siyang sweet, malambot, at babaeng babae. Eh nasanay kami sa It's Showtime na bomba 'yung choreography. [Nung una iniisip ko] na baka hindi siya magustuhan ng masa."
The opposite happened, as the song became a hit and helped establish Baby Dolls' unique identity. Today, the group continues to enjoy growing popularity, with their viral songs inspiring thousands of dance videos online and proving that their years of perseverance were worth it.
Formed through the ABS-CBN noontime variety show It's Showtime, the Baby Dolls are a lively Filipino P-pop girl group composed of standout alumni from the show's "Girl on Fire" and "Sexy Babe" segments. Originally introduced as resident show dancers, the group signed under StarPop and evolved into recording artists known for high-energy dance tracks like "Ikembot Mo," and the current dance trend song "Oohh Lala Baby".
In another report, Marian Rivera joined the viral “Oohh Lala Baby” dance challenge while spending time in Quebec, Canada. Her TikTok entry quickly attracted millions of views and caught the attention of many netizens. The Showtime Baby Dolls also reacted with excitement, expressing their appreciation for the Kapuso actress's participation in the trend. Fans likewise applauded Marian for spreading positive vibes even while she was overseas.
Meanwhile, Vice Ganda celebrated the Baby Dolls' latest milestone by promising them a special reward. In a video shared through the group's official Instagram Story, the comedian personally congratulated the members and encouraged them to buy new outfits, assuring them that she would cover the cost. She happily told the group, "Bumili kayo ng outfit, ako magbabayad," to mark their achievement. Many fans praised Vice for consistently showing her generosity and unwavering support for the Baby Dolls.
