During her recent appearance on Cinema One's talk show The B Side, the actress opened up about turning down huge endorsement deals for 'online sugal' platforms. When asked if she had any projects she regretted passing on, Cristine confidently said no, pointing out how her choices align with her personal values.

"Hindi ko naman siya pinagsisihan... Online g[a]mbling ba 'yun?" Cristine recalled.

She explained that she was approached twice by different companies under the same category.

While the offers were financially massive, Cristine could not bring herself to accept them because of certain observations she's made during her youth.

"I remember nung bata ako, yan yung reklamo ng mga matatanda sa mga asawa nila na inuumaga sa mga sugalan. Tapos I remember nung bata ako, nag-mark talaga sa akin, merong isang artista na close sa family namin, nag-asawa ng sugarol. Super, super, super yaman nila na hindi mo akalain na maghihirap sila," she shared.

Seeing how g[a]mbling could completely destroy a family's life left a deep mark on Cristine as a young girl. Because of this, she immediately thought about the impact an endorsement like that would have on a broader audience.

"Parang feeling ko, tumatak sa akin yun na kung gagawin ko yung online g[a]mbling endorsement, kawawa naman yung mga bata na maaapektuhan na parang nakita ko yun growing up. Yun yung reason ko, personal reason na sinabi ko sa management ko," Cristine explained.

The actress also noted that after her management team initially declined the first offer, a second company tried to reach out to her directly with an even bigger sum of money. Still, Cristine stood her ground and said no for the exact same reason.

The host agreed with her stance, adding that getting older brings the gift of wisdom and the gift of saying no.

Cristine Reyes is a Filipina actress known for her versatile roles in Philippine cinema. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and recognitions.
