Renowned singer-songwriter Rico Blanco has opened up about his current emotional state, sharing that while he is currently unattached, he is far from closing his doors to the possibility of a lifelong commitment with the right person.

The iconic musician made these candid admissions during a recent appearance on the popular entertainment talk show "Fast Talk with Boy," shifting public attention to his evolving views on love, companionship, and his personal journey.
During the deeply personal conversation, Rico admitted that his mindset towards romance has not always been the same, revealing a point in his past where he had completely embraced singlehood.
“There was a time where I resigned na, I knew that being single was the best thing set up for me. But that was a long time ago,” Rico shared.

However, his life took a different turn shortly after that phase. “And then I had a relationship after that,” he recalled, explaining how entering subsequent relationships reshaped his initial outlook.
According to a report by GMA Network, the 53-year-old artist remains very receptive to marriage despite experiencing high-profile separations that caused him heartbreak over the years.
“Right now, I'm single but I'm open to not being single,” Rico explained, adding that he maintains immense respect for individuals who choose to remain single throughout their lives.
When asked by Boy if marriage remains on the horizon for him, the singer did not hesitate to confirm that the option remains open under specific conditions.
“Still a possibility for me,” Rico stated. “But I suppose it has to be with the right person because I'm at the age where I don't have to get married. I understand for some people, they have to get married. Right now, I don't have to get married so if I will get married, it has to be with the right person.”
Rico also noted that his family has never placed any pressure on him to settle down, largely because they have witnessed his continuous efforts to make his past relationships work.
“Maybe because they also seen I've been trying naman eh. It's not like they see me not trying. So they've seen me in relationships trying each time and being broken each time it doesn't work,” he explained.
Describing himself as a highly emotional partner due to his zodiac sign, the Rivermaya singer acknowledged that he treats love with deep romance and sensitivity.
“Pisces ako eh. Medyo sensitive. More sa feels. In love-bin ako eh, parang gano'n… Romantic ‘yung ideal ko eh. Kung paano dapat ‘yung mga bagay-bagay,” Rico shared.
Despite his maturity, Rico believes he still has an enormous amount to understand when it comes to long-term love.
“Feeling ko marami na. Pero feeling ko marami pa akong matututunan. Especially in the past few years, talagang past couple of years. Medyo nagtatanong-tanong pa rin ako,” Rico admitted.
Reflecting on the complex dynamics of modern relationships, he explained that mutual affection is only one piece of the puzzle, as personal timing, ages, and individual priorities often dictate whether a union succeeds.
“I thought before that if you found someone who you really love and they really loved you too, that was enough. No. There's other stuff like where you are in life, where the other person is in their life. And ‘yung timings niyo, ‘yung timetables, ‘yung edad mo, ‘yung edad ng tao,” Rico explained.
He realized that his older perspectives might have been too simplistic.
“Medyo siguro naive ako dati. O hindi ko alam, ganu’n ba dapat? That's what I'm trying to find out. Baka napunta rin ako sa masyadong opposite end. Hindi lang ‘yun lahat. That I need to relax that observation also,” he added, while vulnerably conceding that he has cried because of love.
Despite the past pain, Rico encourages people to always love with complete devotion.
“Siguro ibigay mo pa rin lahat. Kasi kahit anong mangyari, Tito Boy, there'll be no regrets afterwards, right?”
