While Karina went to the halfway house hoping to bring joy to the children, she admitted that the experience ended up touching her heart in ways she didn't expect. The patients surprised her with heartfelt gifts, including paintings, handwritten letters, and even a bouquet of flowers they made themselves.

"I went there thinking I would help them, but they were the ones who gave me strength, through their faith, kindness, and the way they continue to smile despite everything they’re going through," the actress shared.

Karina also took the opportunity to raise awareness for the organization. She encouraged her followers, whom she fondly calls "Kare Bears," to visit Bahay Aruga, support their local cafes, or purchase the children's artwork to help sustain the halfway house's mission, one that touched her community.
