Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan reveal 'Tayo Sa Wakas' as their last project "for now"

Fans of the popular "DonBelle" tandem were left in shock on Monday, April 27, after Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano revealed that they are taking a break as an onscreen pair.

During their interview on Bianca Gonzalez’s 'Paano Ba 'To?!' podcast, the duo confirmed that their upcoming movie, Tayo Sa Wakas, will be their last project together for the time being.

Donny explained that after years of working side-by-side, they felt it was time to explore different paths.

"We’ve done so many projects throughout the years but me and Belle decided that for this specific project, it will be our last DonBelle project for now," he said.

Belle added that the decision comes from a place of wanting to improve themselves as individuals.

According to the actress, the film’s theme of finding one's identity outside of a relationship actually mirrors what they are going through in real life.

"It's a mutual decision. This is why this project required so much growth from him and I and time apart, which allowed us to grow, find what we want, find who we are, and come back as better people," Belle shared.

The two admitted that the thought of working separately has "scared" them. Donny even noted how sentimental it has been on set, knowing they won't be shooting scenes together again anytime soon.

"Donny and I, we wanna grow as individuals, we wanna find our identity," Belle confessed. "Sometimes, it’s not about falling in love with your partner. It’s about falling in love with yourself," Donny also added, summarizing the heart of their new movie.

Tayo Sa Wakas, which is directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana and produced by Donny and Belle themselves, will premiere on May 27.
