Enrique Gil recently sat down for a heart-to-heart talk with veteran journalist Karen Davila on her "1ON1" YouTube series. The interview got real when the topic shifted to his past relationship with Liza Soberano—the other half of the iconic "LizQuen" tandem that captured many hearts for years.

When Karen asked if the two were still in touch or on good terms, Enrique gave a very honest answer. He admitted that while they aren't as close as they used to be, they still reach out during big moments.

"I would say that we were not that in touch, but we were in touch, still, at times," Enrique explained. "Especially when important things happen in our lives, maybe just to check on each other, but my life is here and her life is there and I wish her all the best."

At one point, he added that he truly hopes all of Liza's dreams come true in her journey abroad.

Looking back at their years together, Enrique spoke fondly of the actress, saying, "She was my childhood sweetheart, and we had some really great memories."

Meanwhile, Karen didn't hesitate to ask the big question: "Is Enrique Gil ready to love again?" The actor did not hesitate in admitting that he is finally opening his heart.

"Yeah, I've just been so closed out for such a long time, and I always keep my heart hoping," Enrique said. He shared that he has learned to embrace the ups and downs of life, "Sometimes, kailangan ganun eh, that's life, you just keep moving forward and I just trust in God."

As for his career, Enrique is also looking to explore a path beyond the traditional love team format that made him a star. When asked if he still wants to be part of a duo, he clarified that he wants to stand on his own for now.

"At this point, in my career, not necessarily. I wouldn't say na I'm closed out to it, but at this point, I think it's not needed for me," he told Karen.

Images show the two in close and casual moments, including one where Brown appeared to be sitting on Gil’s lap. A woman claiming to be Brown’s mother said online that her daughter is still a minor. An anonymous fan, however, alleged the pair have been talking since June.
