In a recent episode of the 'Paano Ba ‘To?!' podcast with Bianca Gonzalez, Luis Manzano shared some heartwarming memories of how Vilma Santos and Edu Manzano worked hard to give him a normal childhood.
One particular story stood out: the time his mother, the "Star for All Seasons," decided they should go grocery shopping together.
"One day, nagising si mommy, sabi niya, 'Anak, mag-grocery tayo,'" Luis shared. However, the attempt at a regular errand didn't last long. "Pagkadating na pagkadating namin sa grocery, two steps, akala mo mall show na ni mommy. As in hindi kami makagalaw."

Within three steps, the crowd had gathered, and Vilma realized the plan wasn't working at all.
"My mom said, 'Anak, balik na tayo.' I understood as a child na she wanted me to experience something normal with my mother," he added.
Luis also recalled a similar lesson in humility and boundaries from his father, Edu Manzano. While attending a wedding when Luis was around 9 or 10, the crowd began to swarm his famous dad.
"Nung medyo nagkagulo na, my dad said, 'Anak, let's go,'" Luis remembered. When he asked why they were leaving before the ceremony even started, Edu explained: "Because sila ang bida. So ayoko na the attention nasa atin, samantalang sila ang kinakasal. Let's go na lang."
Reflecting on these moments, Luis expressed deep gratitude for his parents’ efforts for a sense of 'normalcy.'
"Kumbaga they tried their best to make me live a very normal childhood. And I think I still did, despite the cards dealt," he concluded.
