When asked to describe the relationship, the veteran actress called it "beautiful." However, she hinted at the sobering realization that led to their breakup. As an adult, she approached the romance with a pragmatic maturity, needing to know if it was leading toward a permanent commitment.

"It was beautiful, but somewhere along the way, you know you have to admit, kasi I am not getting any younger and I have to admit, are you seeing this until the finish line or not?" she revealed, indicating that the desire for long-term clarity was a key factor in their conversation about the future.

Despite their breakup in 2023, Cherry Pie confirmed that she and Edu have maintained a friendly relationship today, though it took some time after the split to reconnect. "We didn't talk for about two years." However, a recent, unexpected encounter helped ease any remaining tension. "We saw each other recently," she confirmed. "So when I saw him finally, I was so relieved kasi we are still the same." The moment provided a much-needed closure, leaving no bitterness between them: "Sabi ko nga, 'Hay salamat, at least wala ng samaan ng loob,'" the actress said in the interview.
