Ruffa Gutierrez, a Filipina actress and former beauty queen, has recently expressed her sorrow over the recent tragedy that occured at the Lapu-Lapu Festival in Vancouver, Canada this year.

On Instagram, she reposted a photo quote from @filipinosinthe6ix that read, "11 people dead at Lapu-Lapu Festival, toll rising" regarding the tragic crime that happened to several Filipinos.

In her caption, Ruffa extended her sympathies to the families who were affected by the tragedy and wrote, "Devastating and tragic. My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones."

According to the report of CNN, the tragic incident occurred on the evening of April 26, 2025, during the Lapu-Lapu Festival, a street festival and celebration honoring Filipino heritage.

At around PM, a 30-year-old man, identified as Kai-Ji Adam Lo, drove a black SUV into a crowd of festival-goers, resulting in 11 fatalities and injuring over 20 others, as recently reported by the BBC.

In the official report of the NBC News, Lo has since been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder which the Vancouver police have said in a Sunday evening press release.

Following the tragic crime that took place in Canada, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has released a statement, expressing his deepest sympathies for the Filipino community who were present.

"On behalf of the Philippine Government and the Filipino people, Liza and I would like to express our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and to the strong and thriving Filipino community in Canada," a part of PBBM's statement regarding the tragedy could be read.

Ruffa Gutierrez is a Filipino actress, beauty queen, and television personality. She is the daughter of famous actors Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama. In 1993, she won Second Runner-Up in the Miss World pageant, making her one of the most well-known beauty queens in the Philippines. Throughout her career, she has been active in entertainment, hosting, and acting as well.

Meanwhile, Ruffa Gutierrez paid a heartfelt tribute to Nora Aunor, who passed away at age 71. On Instagram, Ruffa shared a throwback photo of herself with the Superstar of Philippine cinema. Ruffa said it was captured when Ate Guy received a prestigious award in 2015 in Malaysia. In the same post, Ruffa also lauded the late national artist's contribution to local cinema as well.
