Lee Joo Sil, a veteran South Korean actress, has tragically passed away at 80 years old.

According to Koreaboo, Lee Joo-sil died on February 2 at 10:20 AM while receiving treatment for her illness.

Her agency, 1230culture, confirmed the unfortunate news to Soompi with a statement that partly read, “Approximately three months ago, actress Lee Joo Sil’s health declined, and she was diagnosed with stomach cancer after an examination from the hospital.”

The veteran actress had previously been diagnosed with bre@st cancer in 1993 and had won the battle after more than 10 years, Soompi also reported.

As per Koreaboo, Lee Joo Sil’s funeral will be held at Shinchon Severance Hospital, with visitation open from February 3. The final service will be on February 5.

Lee Joo Sil, born in 1944, debuted through the theater stage in 1964. She gained recognition as both a voice actress and an on-screen performer. The veteran South Korean actress starred in numerous projects including “Train to Busan” and “Squid Game 2.”

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu has also passed away recently. According to reports, Barbie Hsu succumbed to pneumonia at 48 years old after getting it during their Japan tour for the Chinese New Year period. Barbie Hsu became popularly known as 'Shan Cai' in the 2001 Taiwan TV drama series 'Meteor Garden' where she was the leading lady of another Taiwan star Jerry Yan.

Xian Gaza is among those who took to social media to react to the passing of Barbie Hsu. On Facebook, Xian wished Barbie’s soul an eternal peace and thanked her for being part of his childhood. He also had a series of comments regarding the heartbreaking news. In one of his comments, the social media personality also penned a meaningful reminder addressed to everyone.
