He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He has now brought home the first gold medal in gymnastics of the Philippines in the Olympics.

Recently, Carlos secured his second gold medal at the Olympics 2024. He secured his gold medal after earning a score of 15.116 for his two vaults. Yulo overtook Harry Hepworth of Great Britain who scored 14.949. It is worth noting that Carlos is the first Filipino male athlete to bag a gold for the country.
