Jiro Manio, in an interview over “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” talked about the time spent with his mom back when she was still alive.
The former actor’s mom, Joylene Santos, died on August 2007 due to a terminal ailment. Jiro was only 15 years old then.

According to Jiro, his mom raised him, though when she went back to work in Japan, his grandfather took the responsibility of caring for him for a time.
“Mother ko na lang ang mag-isa [na nagpalaki sa akin],” Jiro revealed during the interview.

Jiro also revealed he never met his real dad, whom his family says if Japanese.
When his mom died, the former actor asked his family about his real fathe and tried looking for him.
“Hinanap ko po, nagtanong-tanong ako sa kanila, una sa family ko. Sabi nila isang beses lang daw 'yun nagpunta, pinagbubuntis ako ng mother ko,” the former actor said.
“Iniwan po sa bahay ang mother ko, umalis daw pong mag-isa. Tapos iyak daw nang iyak ang mother ko no'n dahil masama raw ang sinabi sa mother ko. Hindi ko po alam. Hanggang sa ipinanganak na ako na wala na siya,” he further said.
“Hinanap ko po eh, tinanong ko sa family ko. Na-engganyo lang ako na makita siya, kung totoo ba na ang tatay ko ay Japanese. 'Yun lang naman po ang naiisip ko. Dahil lumaki ako rito sa Pilipinas wala naman po siya,” Jiro said.
Jiro Manio is a former actor. He has appeared in a number of shows and films, though the one movie where he really made a mark was "Magnifico." At the time, he was only ten years old.
In an interview with Tito Boy Abunda, he was asked why he tried selling his Best Actor trophy to Boss Toyo. According to the former actor, he wanted his trophy to be among the memorabilia in the museum that Boss Toyo plans to set up. He won the trophy for his portrayal of his role in the movie "Magnifico."
Last year, Jiro was also asked what can he say about Ai-Ai Delas Alas, the comedienne who took him under her wing for a time. According to Jiro, he has a lot to thank for with Ai-Ai. He also said he understood why Ai-Ai eventually stopped giving him support.
