Hunk actor Marco Gumabao opened up about the beginnings of his romance with actress Cristine Reyes in a video interview with PUSH during the Cathy Valencia Skin Clinic 18th anniversary and thanksgiving birthday celebration last December 7.

According to Marco, both he and Cristine were surprised that a romantic relationship developed between them since both of them did not have plans about dating each other. For this reason, their relationship developed in a more natural and organic manner.

It all began when Cristine and Marco became workout buddies with fellow actor Jake Cuenca.

“Kahit naman ako nagulat eh. I mean, everything was very unexpected. Nothing was planned definitely. So everything just happened naturally and here we are. Kasi nag-start kami working out together. Kasama pa nga namin si Jake Cuenca eh. Like exactly a year ago,” Jake shared.

Nonetheless, Marco has said many times in the past that his celebrity crush is Cristine. What he likes the most about Cristine is that she is an authentic person who does not put up a facade and shows everyone who she really is. He also described her as a caring person.

“I think sa mga interviews, I always say kung sinong showbiz crush ko, I would always say Cristine. With Cristine, actually what you see is what you get eh. Pag nagpapa-interview siya, kung ano yung ugali talaga niya, she really shows it to everyone. Wala siyang tinatago. So I think that’s what’s nice also about her. Kasi mahirap yung tao na may tinatago in front of the camera. Tapos behind the camera iba palang tao siya,” Marco told PUSH.

Marco also believes that putting God at the center of his relationship with Cristine is the key to their successful bond.

“Of course there will always be bumps along the road, but as long as you are intertwined with God, your relationship will be stronger than ever,” he said.

Cristine Reyes is a popular actress in the Philippines. Her sister is veteran actress Ara Mina. She became known when she joined GMA-7’s reality TV program, StarStruck. On January 27, 2016, Cristine got married to Ali Khatibi in a private ceremony, and they have a daughter named Amarah. However, Cristine and Ali’s separation was confirmed in 2019. She is now dating actor Marco Gumabao.
