Vice Ganda and Ion Perez is facing another challenge after a criminal complaint was filed against them by the group Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc. (KSMBPI).
KSMBPI reportedly filed the case at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office last Monday, September 11.
In a report by Cebu Daily News, the group claimed that the two allegedly violated Section 6 of Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, as well as provisions under Republic Act No.10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Article 201 penalizes immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions and indecent shows, while Republic Act No.10175 penalizes similar acts with the help or use of technology.

In a phone interview with the Inquirer, Atty. Leo Olarte, who identified himself as representing KSMBPI as its president, said that their goal is for ABS-CBN to remove the video showing the “icing” scene from its socmed accounts.
“Our ultimate goal is for ABS-CBN to take down the particular video on its social media accounts, such as YouTube and other platforms,” Olarte said during the phone interview.
A report by the Abante stated that the case stemmed from the act of Vice and Ion during the “Isip Bata” segment of “It’s Showtime” last July 25, 2023, where the two ate icing using their fingers.
Some netizens and groups claimed the act of the two hosts was indecent, causing them to file a complaint against the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
After hearing the case, the MTRCB slapped “It’s Showtime” with a 12-day suspension.
Vice Ganda is a famous comedian, actor, endorser, and host in the Philippines. He is best known for hosting “It’s Showtime” and for his commercially successful movies in the MMFF. Recently, Vice Ganda also made headlines due to his remarks about senior citizens on "It's Showtime." During the 'Tawag ng Tanghalan' segment, Jhong Hilario mentioned to Vice that a lot of senior citizens like him. It can be recalled that Vice, over the weekend, received fiery remarks from Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile. Enrile called the comedian “salacious” and indecent during his radio program on SMNI News on Saturday. The politician and lawyer said he was able to follow Vice Ganda’s rise in popularity, and he disagrees with his style of humor. He aired such comment against the “It’s Showtime” host amid the show’s MTRCB suspension issue.
