Pura Luka Vega expressed his dismay over the sanctions imposed upon him by two cities recently, namely Manila and Bulacan, where he was declared as a persona non grata.

On Twitter, the drag queen aired his side, saying that he was judged, without people even knowing him.

He also said that he was just declared persona non grata by cities, without the latter knowing him or understanding the intent of his performance.

A drag party is a type of social gathering where drag artists impersonating men or women would often show their prowess. Drag artists, such as drag queen Pura Luka Vega, would usually wear clothing and makeup to imitate present or historical personalities to the point of exaggeration for entertainment. Drag queens would also often perform pre-planned acts with audience interaction.

Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman took offense with the viral "Ama Namin" drag performance of Pura Luka Vega. The solon said that as a Catholic, she felt offended. In a text message that she sent to ABS-CBN, she asked what the said performance contributes to the LGBT rights. She also said, "Umayos kayo" considering that such acts do not help their cause for being accepted and treated as equals.

In a social media post, he broke his silence amid the widespread bashings he has received after the video of his controversial performance at a party surfaced online. It can be recalled that the drag queen was seen in the video seemingly dressed to look like Jesus Christ. The rest of the partygoers were also seen jumping and dancing while singing to what sounded like a remixed version of a well-known church hymn. In his socmed post after the controversy broke out, Pura Luka Vega indicated it was not his intention to offend anyone.
