She then said that as far as her knowledge is concerned, ‘maasim’ or sour when used in that context meant a foul-smelling odor.

The actress admitted, though, she doesn’t know if the said word has a different connotation when it comes to Gen Z people.

“Ano'ng klaseng 'maasim'? Ang alam kong lang na 'maasim' ay ibig sabihin mabaho. Hindi ko lang alam ngayon sa Gen Z baka may ibang meaning sila,” Ellen said.

She then added that if someone calls her ‘maasim’ or sour, her understanding would be that she doesn’t smell pleasant.

“Kasi kung ako tawagin mo akong 'maasim', ang pagkakaintindi ko dyan ay mabaho ako,” the actress said, adding that the netizen may not smell nice.
“So di ko alam, baka mabaho ka,” she added.

Ellen then reiterated that she doesn’t know if the word has a new meaning but if the meaning is still the same, then one should just take a bath if someone calls him or her ‘maasim’.

“Ewan ko na lang kung meron na namang bagong meaning. Kung baho, ligo,” Ellen said.
