Ashley Rivera expressed her appreciation for Zaijian Jaranilla after the actor defended his 12-year-old co-star, Kanye Avendaño, from an inappropriate question during the press conference of the advocacy film Guryon. The KALURKS! host also criticized the reporter's attempt to dismiss the remark as a joke after Zaijian intervened.

The incident became one of the topics discussed during the seventh episode of KALURKS! on Sunday, October 25. Hosts DJ Jhai Ho, Ashley Rivera, and Baus Rufo were joined by guest Kalurkers Keanna Reeves and Briant Scott Lomboy as they talked about the exchange that happened during the film's media conference.
During the event, a showbiz reporter directed an unexpected question at 12-year-old Kanye, asking whether he wanted to become a Vivamax star when he was older. Vivamax is known for producing adult-oriented content, making the question particularly inappropriate given the young actor's age.
Zaijian, who was present during the press conference, immediately stepped in to remind the reporter about his co-star's status as a minor.

"Underage pa po si Kanye kaya ingat po sa mga ganitong tanong."
The reporter responded by apologizing and explaining that the remark was only meant as a joke.
"Ah... pasensya na, joke lang 'yon!"
However, Ashley made it clear during the program that she appreciated Zaijian's decision to intervene rather than allow the conversation to continue without addressing the issue.
"Actually, natutuwa ako kay Z na at least nag-step in kaagad siya 'di ba," Ashley said.
"Parang sandali lang, minor 'tong tinatanong n'yo ng ganyan tapos sasabihin joke lang."
Ashley further explained why she believed the reporter's question should not have been treated lightly, especially considering that it was directed at a child.
"Hindi magandang joke 'yon kasi bakit naman ganu'n 'yung tanong 'di ba, parang inappropriate. At saka 12 years old, my goodness. Why will you ask that question?" she added.
Her comments highlighted the importance of being mindful of the questions asked during interviews, particularly when the subject is a young personality who may not be in a position to fully understand or respond to sensitive topics.
Keanna, meanwhile, offered a different perspective based on her experiences in the entertainment industry. She recalled how media interviews used to involve more personal questions before social media became a major part of public discussions.
"Actually, normal 'yan nu'ng panahon namin. Personalan talaga 'yan mga tanong ng mga press. Wala 'yang social media."
Despite Keanna's observation about how media practices were different during her time, Ashley maintained her position that certain questions should no longer be considered acceptable.
"Hindi magandang mga tanong 'yan. Please, let's not ask this type of question."
The discussion brought attention to the responsibility of entertainment reporters when interviewing young performers. While media personalities regularly face questions about their careers and personal lives, Ashley's reaction emphasized that the age and circumstances of an interviewee should always be considered.
