Lea Salonga took to Twitter and shared an embarrassing experience that happened in 2018 involving Filipinos.
It was during "Pinoy Night at Once on this Island," and Lea recalled how some Filipinos behaved towards an usher who was not of Pinoy-Asian descent.
According to Lea, there was a rule that was meant to be carried out by ushers, wherein there must not be a taking of photos before the show.

However, when it was her time to walk out on the set, there were some Pinoy audience who were arguing with the usher, and Lea even told them that she was just doing her job.
"All the ushers were thus instructed to enforce this rule. If you saw a camera, approach and remind."
"So, back to Pinoy Night. It came my time to walk out onto the set for my bit in the pre show. Right as I left the backstage area, I saw some audience members arguing with an usher (of non-Pinoy Asian descent). I yelled in their direction: “She is just doing her job!”
"Then they tried to state their case, at which point I shook my head and headed to the sand/stage. My friends could hear what was going on: “Akala mo kung sino na, eh kapwa pa naman natin siya.” And as folks were exiting after the show, “O, ayan na siya, ayan na siya.”"
Lea admitted feeling sad and later said that the "siya" they were referring to was the usher.
"Oh shoot, I misspoke. The actual quote (my one friend that was there reminded me) was thus: “Akala mo kung sino ka, usher ka lang!” My other friend, normally super mild-mannered, whipped her head to them and said, “Really?????”
"The “siya” they were referring to was the usher."
