Bituin Escalante, in a Twitter post, defended international singer Lea Salonga amid the dressing room issue that recently went viral.
It can be recalled that some netizens criticized Lea for acting “mataray” to fans who just wanted to have their photo taken with her.
In the video that went viral online, Lea can be seen politely, but firmly, asking people who came inside her dressing room that they shouldn’t be there because it’s her private space.
Meanwhile, netizens who defended the actuation of the international singer came in droves, with many of them saying that if it would have been a different artist, the fans could have been carted away by the security personnel.

For the part of Bituin, she said in her post that Lea was “very gracious” to her and her family who went to meet her after the Sweeny Todd performance in Singapore.
She said she politely asked permission from the production staff if they could meet the cast, particularly Lea.
“The very gracious @MsLeaSalonga with our family after a performance of Sweeney Todd in Singapore,” Bituin wrote in her Twitter post.
“We did ask permission from production, prior to the show, if there was an opportunity to meet the cast,” she added.
The pop singer then indicated that there is a huge difference between asking nicely and doing the opposite way.
“Asking nicely, and within respectful bounds, goes a long way,” Bituin said in her Twitter post.
Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga is an award-winning international singer and actress. She became known around the world when she got the role of 'Kim' in the musical Miss Saigon for which she won a Tony Award. She is also the first Asian woman to get this award. Lea is also known for being the singing voice of several Disney Princess characters, Jasmine and Mulan.
Recently, actor-singer Janno Gibbs also took to social media and reacted to Lea Salonga’s viral video with some fans. On Instagram Stories, Janno reposted the video showing how Lea dealt with the fans who attempted to enter her dressing room on Broadway. In a separate post, Janno agreed with Lea’s reason why she declined the fans’ request to take a photo with her in the dressing room. Janno also expressed his frank thoughts on how Lea interacted with the fans.
On the part of the international singer, she recently took the time to respond to Twitter users who were discussing the viral video in the dressing room. The internationally-renowned singer and actress didn't like the "attitude of entitlement" ng mga tao. For the singer, those people with such kind of attitude would always get the "sh*t" from her. She also mentioned in a tweet that those who entered her dressing room also rushed her onto the dance floor after the show.
