Sen. Robin Padilla and Cong. Richard Gomez are both actors-turned politicians and both have expressed their opinion on the proposed mandatory drug testing for celebrities.

Padilla stated that while he agrees with the purpose of protecting the people from the ill effects brought about by illegal drugs, including his fellow celebrities, he is not in favor of compelling anyone to undergo drug testing since this may be violative of his rights, Inquirer reported.

Ngunit hindi maaaring obligahin ang sinuman na magpa-drug test, dahil maaaring labag ito sa kanyang karapatang pantao," said the senator, as per ABS-CBN.

The congressman, on the other hand, is in favor of it. He qualified it though that if it is for work purposes, then that would be fine. However, it must not only be focused on a particular sector.

“Drug testing is good but it should not be discriminatory. We should not focus on a specific sector of society,” he said in an interview with GMA News.
“Kung gagamitin itong pang-trabaho, okey lang, walang problema. But you cannot focus on just one sector,” he added as per PikaPika.

Robin Padilla had to undergo a heart procedure and Mariel is thankful for its success. She took to Instagram and thanked everyone for prayers that were sent Robin's way. The former actress also thanked the cardiologist who attended to her husband's needs.
