Ely Buendia recently took time to express his admiration for what Sen. Leila de Lima is fighting for.

It wasn’t clear when was the video recorded, though it appears to have been uploaded only recently on Senator de Lima’s YouTube channel.
“Hi Senator Leila de Lima. I just want to tell you how much I admire what you stand for,” Ely said in the video.

The singer-composer and former Eraserheads frontman also expressed his hopes that the jailed lady senator will keep on fighting what she’s standing up for.
“And I hope you keep fighting the good fight and I hope that you win the coming elections,” the singer-composer said.
Her then took time to express his gratitude at what Ely viewed as the senator’s sacrifice.
“Thank you very much for your sacrifice,” Ely said at the end of his message.
The senator has been spending time at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame since 2017 on illegal substance-related charges.
She has denied involvement in illegal substances and has slammed the charges filed against her.
Some of the charges have already been dropped.
Ely Eleandre Basiño Buendia is a highly acclaimed Filipino musician. He is best known for being the frontman, vocalist, and songwriter of the legendary OPM band, Eraserheads, which has since become an integral part of Filipino popular culture. He is also the co-founder of the independent record label, Offshore Music.
In October of last year, fans stormed the social media accounts of Ely Buendia moments after VP Leni Robredo confirmed she would be vying for the highest position of the land. It can be recalled that in September, the former frontman for the popular band, Eraserheads, held a Q&A session on his Twitter account. A follower asked him if there is a chance for an Eheads reunion and he answered “if Leni runs. ” He clarified later, however, that his political views are his own and does not reflect the views of his former bandmates.
After VP Leni Robredo filed her certificate of candidacy, Ely broke broke his silence about his viral remark that Eraserheads would reunite “if Leni runs.” He said he has great respect for the VP and that if he were to vote now, she would be her candidate. The singer and composer clarified, however, that his remark is a “half serious joke” in the context of a big event happening first, “like the second coming,” before they think about reuniting. He also denied that his post is political, saying that it is far from that.
