Heart Evangelista was surprised to learn that the author of the novel ‘Crazy Rich Asians,’ Kevin Kwan, had wanted her to audition for the movie adaptation of his work.

She learned about the pleasant surprise during a one-on-one interview with the famous author during her trip to the United States last year for some collaborative tasks.
At the start of the interview, Heart remarked that many people are asking how did she get to know the famous author.
“A lot of people are asking and you know, it's been so long. How did we meet? How did we connect? How did it happen?” Heart asked Kevin.

The famous author’s answer surprised Heart.
“Well, let's reverse it. Let's rewind it even more. Because I have requested that we get you to audition,” Kevin revealed.
Hearing this, the actress was visibly surprised upon knowing the author himself of the popular novel requested for her to audition for its movie adaptation.
“I didn't know that. You didn't tell me that!” Heart blurted out.
Heart revealed last year that she was among those who auditioned for “Crazy Rich Asians,” though she did not get the role she was gunning for.
