During her appearance on GMA’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Monday, October 27,” Alice admitted that she began acting at 17 but initially treated it as a hobby rather than a serious profession, a mindset that affected her working relationships, including with fellow actress Dina Bonnevie.
“I did it because it was fun, I didn’t really treat it as work. So, hindi ko minahal at nirespeto ang trabahong ibinigay sa akin as a teenager,” she said.
She explained that because she did not consider acting serious work at the time, she failed to recognize the importance of punctuality and professionalism on set.

“I’ve felt that it was, you know, really not work, and I was always late,” she added.
Alice acknowledged that her tardiness showed a lack of consideration for her colleagues, who had to wait for her before proceeding with their work.
“You don’t respect your katrabaho kapag lagi kang late, ’cause you’re not respecting their time, so when I was younger I was like that,” she said.
The actress also recalled how her nightlife contributed to her habit of arriving late. She would go clubbing and stay up late, sometimes claiming she was unwell when she did not feel like working the following morning.
“Then I would say I’m not feeling well para mag-trabaho in the morning. Hindi ko minamahal ang trabaho,” she recalled.
She eventually developed a different perspective on her profession when she received another opportunity to pursue showbiz in her 20s, with the help of Mother Lily Monteverde, the matriarch of Regal Entertainment.
This experience helped her realize how much she loved acting and understand the importance of giving her work the dedication, care, and professionalism it deserved.
“Doon ko na-realize I really love what I do. I love acting. Let me give it the full love and professionalism and care that it should have,” she said.
As her passion for acting grew, Alice also noticed a positive change in her relationship with producers. She recalled receiving an award nomination during that period and attributed the growing appreciation she received from producers to her renewed commitment to her craft.
“And that’s when I started, I think I got nominated for an award back then, and then nag-grew 'yung pagmamahal ng producers sa akin,” she said.
Looking back on her early experiences, Alice’s story highlights how a renewed appreciation for her profession helped her develop a stronger sense of responsibility and commitment to acting.
