Francis Magalona, widely known as the country’s Master Rapper and by his moniker Francis M, passed away on March 6, 2009, at the age of 44 after battling cancer. He left behind a lasting legacy in the Philippine music industry and continues to be remembered for his contributions to Filipino hip-hop.
Maxene Magalona, on the other hand, is a prominent Filipina actress, television personality, and advocate for mental wellness. The daughter of the late rap legend Francis Magalona and Pia Arroyo, she first entered show business as a child through programs like Ang TV and 5 and Up before establishing a successful career in television and film. In recent years, she has become widely known as a yoga and meditation instructor, dedicating much of her work to promoting mental health awareness. Maxene married Rob Mananquil in Boracay in 2018, and in 2022, she confirmed that they had mutually chosen to end their marriage.
As previously reported by KAMI, Maxene expressed her appreciation for SB19’s rendition of her late father Francis M.’s “Mga Kababayan.” The actress shared that she was “jumping in my seat” when the song played in “Forgotten Island.” She described the moment as especially meaningful because the song was featured in one of the film’s best scenes. Maxene also explained why hearing her father’s music in a global production made her proud.
Pia Magalona shared photos from a recent family movie outing to watch the DreamWorks animated film "Forgotten Island." On Sunday, September 27, the widow of Francis Magalona gave a glimpse of their bonding moment, with more family members joining them for the occasion.
