Mhyca Bautista and Cherry Ann Panganiban looked back on their early years as junior members of the SexBomb Girls, recalling how they learned to respect the group’s senior members while adjusting to their place within the iconic dance group.

During their interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Monday, August 3, Mhyca, Cherry Ann, and host Boy Abunda discussed the experiences the ladies went through when they first joined the group at a young age, including the differences in how senior and junior members were treated.
“Pumasok kayo [sa Sexbomb] mga bata pa, kasama niyo si Louise [Bolton]. Pina-practice ba ang seniority noon?” Boy asked.
Cherry Ann clarified that while there was no strict system of seniority, the younger members understood the importance of respecting those who had joined the group before them. She explained that the group had leaders and that members recognized and respected those who held those positions.

“Hindi po siya seniority, pero respected po namin ang mga nauna sa amin. Kasi lahat naman po ng grupo, may leader, so kung sino po ang leader, kung sino po ang nauna, respected po namin lahat,” Cherry Ann said.
Mhyca added that the respect they developed for the older members of the SexBomb Girls has remained unchanged over the years. Despite the passage of time and their own experiences as established members of the group, she said they continue to hold their “ates” in high regard.
“Up until now Tito Boy, 'yung respect namin sa mga ate namin, hindi nagbago,” Mhyca said.
The conversation then turned to stories about how the junior members were treated inside their dressing room during their earlier years.
“Pero totoo ba ang mga kuwento, halimbawa, sa Eat Bulaga noon na ang mga senyora ay nasa mesa, kayo nasa sahig?” the veteran talk show host inquired.
Mhyca then explained, “Meron po kasi doon sa dressing room kung sino ang mga senior, nandoon sila sa table na may salamin.”
Cherry Ann also provided more details about the arrangement for the junior members. She clarified that they did have chairs, but they did not have a table of their own. As a result, they had to keep their makeup on their laps while getting ready.
“At kami pong mga Junior, may mga upuan po kami [pero] walang table. Tapos 'yung makeup po namin, nasa [lap lang namin],” Cherry Ann recalled.
While the two acknowledged the differences between the senior and junior members, their recollections also emphasized the respect they had for those who came before them.

The SexBomb Girls are a popular Filipino dance and performance group. They were formed as a dance group on the noontime show “Eat Bulaga!”, where they became part of the segment “Laban o Bawi.” The group is known for their energetic and daring dance performances, as well as their catchy songs such as “Spaghetti,” “Get Get Aww,” and “Bakit Papa.” Because of their unique style and strong stage presence, they quickly became a household name and one of the most popular girl groups in the Philippines during their peak. Aside from dancing, the SexBomb Girls also ventured into music, film, and television. Some members, such as Rochelle Pangilinan, Jopay Paguia, Sunshine Garcia, and others, went on to build their own careers in acting and hosting after their time with the group.
Mhyca also talked about her eight-year relationship with CJ Abad during the August 3 episode of “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda.” She said she has always been open about their relationship and has never been ashamed of having a lesbian partner. Mhyca also shared that their relationship has been embraced by their families and received positive feedback online.
Rochelle Pangilinan reflected on how her leadership style as the SexBomb Girls’ leader has changed over the years during her guest appearance on the June 23 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.” The actress and performer admitted that she was stricter and more hot-tempered when the group was still starting out. She was also asked to compare how she led the group in its early days with how she manages them today.
