Comedian Kitkat Favia joined the online conversation about high electricity bills after reacting to fellow comedian Jayson Gainza's recent social media post about his latest Meralco statement.

Jayson recently took to Instagram under his handle, @imjaysongainza, where he uploaded a photo of his latest billing invoice from Meralco. The image showed a total amount due of ₱17,845.79, prompting him to publicly question how the amount was computed.

In the caption of his post, Jayson expressed disbelief over the size of the bill and jokingly pointed out that their household does not operate businesses that would typically consume large amounts of electricity. He also quipped that even switching to solar power might not significantly reduce their monthly expenses.

He wrote, “Dear @meralcoph Kami po ay walang laundry shop, wala din po kaming talyer at lalaing lalo na wala kaming 4 na swimming pool paki explain papano nyo ito na compute ng ganito kalaki. Baka naman pag nagsolar kami maging 12k na lang kuryente namin aba aba baka lalo kayong yumaman!”

The post quickly caught the attention of many social media users, with several sharing their own experiences regarding their electricity bills. Among those who joined the discussion was Kitkat.

In the comments section, Kitkat revealed that her own household has also been dealing with a surprisingly high electricity bill despite their family's limited time at home. She explained that only three people live in their house—herself, her husband, and their baby—and that they are home for only four days each week.

Following Cacai's complaint about her electricity bill, Meralco clarified that there was no unusual spike in her power consumption. The company said her account is classified as a high-load service and that her electricity usage is consistent with her historical seasonal billing pattern. It also noted that her consumption is comparable to previous months and the same period last year, with no irregularities detected in the bill. Meralco added that it has offered to conduct a technical survey of her property and continues to coordinate with the actress-comedian regarding her concerns.
