In the interview, veteran host Boy Abunda revisited Cristine’s revelation that Gio formally asked her to be his girlfriend only after reconnecting many years after first meeting as children.
“Last year, 2025. You seriously started to date? Ngayon, tinanong ka na niya,” Boy remarked.
Cristine happily confirmed the milestone in their relationship and explained that their engagement happened in a very private and intimate way.

“Tinanong na niya ako. Finally after 26-years, tinanong na niya ako,” Cristine said, referring to Gio finally asking her to marry him after first meeting decades ago.
According to the actress, the proposal happened quietly inside her condominium unit instead of in a grand public setting.
“Nasa bahay lang, parang proposal namin. Hindi rin kasi ako sanay at siya na masyadong public. Mas gusto namin na intimate lang,” she explained.
Boy then asked whether she had any clue that Gio was planning to propose that day.
“Wala kang kamalay-malay? What happened?” he asked.
Cristine admitted she was genuinely surprised, though she later realized that her instincts had already been telling her something special was about to happen.
“Wala po kong malay talaga,” she said.
The actress narrated that it was just an ordinary Sunday morning when Gio arrived at her condo before they were supposed to attend church together.

“One Sunday morning, the usual, pupunta kami ng church, umakyat si Gio sa condo ko kase we live in the same building,” Cristine recalled.
She then noticed Gio carrying a small paper bag, which immediately made her suspicious.
“Parang may dala-dala siyang paper bag na maliit,” she added.
Cristine shared that deep inside, she already felt the proposal was coming, which prompted her to ask her daughter Amarah to record the moment.
“I wanna have a recording o documentation of this special moment na lahat ng babae pinapangarap na magkaroon ng someone na mangangako na makasama ka habang buhay,” she explained emotionally.
“Sabi ko talaga, instinctively, ‘Amarah, record this.’ Malakas ang kutob ko na ’yun na ’yon,” Cristine shared.
According to the actress, even her daughter was initially confused about what was happening.
“Parang sinasabi pa ni Amarah, ‘What’s happening? What’s this?’” Cristine recounted with a smile.
The actress said Gio then sat down seriously before eventually kneeling in front of her and asking the life-changing question.
“Umupo na ako tapos seryoso lang si Gio. Tapos bigla siyang lumuhod. He popped the question, ‘Will you marry me?’” she said.
Boy later pointed out that Cristine did not immediately answer Gio’s proposal.
“Hindi ka kaagad nakasagot…?” he asked.
Cristine admitted that the emotions overwhelmed her the moment Gio proposed.
“Hindi pa agad ako nakasagot. Parang overwhelming ’yung feeling na finally, bumuhos agad ’yung emotion,” she said.
The actress shared that she immediately burst into tears and hugged Gio tightly before eventually saying yes.
“Umiyak agad, nagyakapan kami. Hindi pa ako nakasagot ng yes pero based on my reaction, it’s yes,” she recalled.
Cristine laughingly revealed that Gio had to ask her again because she still had not verbally answered the proposal.
“He had to ask again. Sabi ko, yes!” she said.
Boy also asked whether the couple already has a wedding date in mind.
“May date na?” he asked.
Cristine then hinted that the wedding could happen soon.
“Baka next year po, first quarter, if not this year,” she revealed.
